LANCASHIRE'S ambulance service branched out with first aid centres - for cars.
After a trial period the 'paramechanics' threw open their garage workshops to service private cars.
Workshops at Blackburn and Burnley were fitted out high tech equipment to test exhaust gases and to carry out servicing and pre-MoT checks.
