IT was as simple as one, two, three for Feniscowles Primary School as they won the boys team award at the annual cross country championships.

Declan Evans crossed the line first followed by team-mates Richard Shuttleworth who finished in second place and Luke Gornall who came third.

Fenny took the team award with 21 points with Matthew Clegg completed the fourth 'scoring' member of the six man team when he finished in 15th place.

Westholme won the girls team event, although it was Leigh Lennox from Longshaw Primary School who was first home.

Westholme's team victory was thanks to three team-members finishing in the top 10 with Olivia Brierley taking second place while Sarah Jones was sixth and Georgina Stapleton was ninth.

Emily Fairbrother, who was 19th, completed the winning team who finished with 29 points.

In the individual race, Heather Lang from Lammack Primary School was third while Rachel Searson of Feniscowles was fourth ahead of fifth-placed Poppy Eastwood of Salesbury Primary School.

Carmen Peter-Thomas from St Mary and St Josephs was seventh with Hannah Pearson of St Gabriels in eighth place.

Leah Greenacre of Feniscowles was 10th.

In the team event, Longshaw were second with 52 points just one point ahead of Fenniscowles.

Lammack (65) were fourth with St Mary's and St John's (92) in fifth place.

In the boys race, A Bees of QEGS was fourth with Scott Shepherd of Longshaw in fifth place.

Reece Ewan of St Gabriels was seventh ahead of Salesbury pair David Bagot and Ben White.

Jonathan Bates of St Gabriels was 10th.

Salesbury with 41 points finished second in the team event and Longshaw in third with 66 points.

As in the girls competition, host school Lammack narrowly missed out on a top three position with 83 points while St Gabriels were fifth with 89 points.
