A BURY company is celebrating a lucrative export order from a most unexpected source.

SP Air Limited has won a contract to supply an order for 200 pneumatic screwdrivers to a firm based in Bahrain in the Middle East.

Although SP Air have been mostly concentrating their efforts on the European markets, with its extensive range of pneumatic tools and automation control equipment, this order has come out of the blue via its newly-formed website which now promises to generate further significant overseas trade.

Managing director Mr Michael Reilly has a long association with the SP Air Corporation of Japan, who have chosen Bury to be the new Euro headquarters.

He said: "It backs up our company's shrewd decision to invest in e-business commerce and to establish our own presence on the web.

"And I would like to thank Bury ISaware for their support, advice and involvement."

During the early part of the year, the company secured a subsidy from Bury ISaware. This is a European and Single Regeneration Budget-funded body which is charged with encouraging local businesses to join the e-business revolution.

SP Air subsequently approached a website design company to join in with ideas before going live on the Internet in June.

And the shrewd decision to establish a a presence on the Internet has paid dividends in giving Michael's company the potential to command a worldwide customer base.

The business, the first to secure a unit at the newly-developed Peel Industrial Estate, is recognised as an established leader in the world of quality, high performance industrial-automotive pneumatic tools and automation control equipment.

General Manager of SP Air is Robert Yates, whose expertise in the automation-pneumatics and electro-pneumatics field is invaluable to the company's future growth.

SP Air plans to recruit another member of staff immediately to cope with the extra workload and has plans to fill a further two vacancies.

The company's website can be found on spairtool.co.uk.
