DARWEN'S Worthington Challenge Trophy game at home to Great Harwood tonight 'can't come quick enough' for the second division side.

Darwen manager Steve Wilkes says his side, which includes five former Harwood players, are champing at the bit to meet their NWCL Division One neighbours.

After an impressive 3-2 win over the fancied Squires Gate on Tuesday, Wilkes reckons his side could do it.

"We seem to raise ourselves for the big games," he said. "And the game can't come quick enough after Tuesday."

Top scorer Paul Baker, Denny and Jimmy Khan, Dennis Hill and Mark Heys are all former Harwood players and they will be keen to put on a good show.

Scott Grundy is out with an ankle injury and Wilkes may rest himself.

"Two games in four days is too much for me," said Wilkes. "I'd need two weeks to get over it."

Great Harwood manager Denis Underwood is looking for his side to bounce back after a 5-0 drubbing at Ramsbottom on Tuesday.

"The best thing that could have happened for Darwen was for us to beat Ramsbottom," said Underwood.

"Because some people have a lot to prove tonight."

THE game kicks off at 7.45pm tonight at the Anchor Ground, Darwen.
