ART will meet science during a special education event this month.

Key stage three students from Bispham High School Arts College, Blackpool, will visit Penwortham Environment Education Centre, near Preston, on November 12 to meet scientists and find out more about their work.

The trip has been organised as part of an environmental science week run by the Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside.

As well as attending workshops run by scientists, students will also be taken on a guided tour of a large scale composting operation near the centre.

Gordon Haycock, education centre manager, said: "It should be a really interesting week. Science is definitely a very rewarding career and sustainable technologies will be used more and more in the future.

"There will be an exhibition of environmental science organisations throughout the week for students to look at and the workshops will allow them to get a taste of life in the scientific community.
