LIVES and money could be saved by having British Summer Time all year round.

So says Euro MP Gary Titley, who has renewed his call for an end to the annual practice of turning back the clocks.

"The Transport Research Laboratory has produced convincing evidence that hundreds of lives would be saved on our roads each year if we stick with BST," he said.

"Not putting the clock back would also mean lighter afternoons and evenings and generate an estimated £250 million a year in energy savings."

Radcliffe-based Mr Titley said the move would also lift people's spirits, adding: "There is nothing worse than leaving school or work in the dark. It makes you feel gloomy and depressed."
