VOLUNTEERS from the communities in Rossendale, Burnley, and Pendle are wanted to join local Youth Offender Panels.

Lancashire Youth Offending Team is in the process of setting up the panels which are the new way of allowing local people have an influence on the outcome from young offenders aged from ten-17 receive from the criminal justice system.

They will come into effect from April 1.

They will focus on young offenders taking responsibility for their actions, ways of paying back to their victim directly or to the wider community and helping young offenders to lead positive and crime free lives.

Volunteers will work with the Youth Offending Team.

Three hundred volunteers are wanted county-wide. Anyone interested is asked to contact the 24-hour hotline 01772 261490 for a full information pack.
