Satan fishes in the sea of humanity. He hides his hellish hooks in a variety of attractive baits, and conceals himself so well that those who get hooked don't even believe he exists.

The Bible tells us the Lord Jesus Christ came "to destroy the works of the devil" 1 John 3:8. For this reason, Satan hates this holy book which forecasts the ultimate triumph of Christ, and the eternal destruction of Satan.

When Jesus was tempted by the devil to turn stones into bread, he defeated Satan by thrusting at him with the sword of scripture. He said "It is written, man shall not live by bread alone but by every word of God." Luke 4:4. Three times Satan was repulsed by the words "It is written" followed by the appropriate Scripture.

Because a hook is nasty, a fisherman hides it in bait that is nice. By using the bait of bright lights, booming music and brainwashing, Satan entices his victims towards his devilish hook. It is at this point that they need all the protection and power that only God's word can provide.

Here is an example. A young man, swept off his feet by a seductive girl, could be saved from disaster by knowing the book of Proverbs 'red light district' story in chapter seven. Satan would have surrendered if the youngster had used the words of verse 27 as a sword and said "It is written, her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death".

There is so much sadness today because people do not know how to fight Satan with the sword of God's word and therefore they get hooked.
