STAN Ternent would rather his players did not have to face him, but the Burnley boss has no doubt who is the star attraction at Turf Moor tomorrow afternoon.

"Robert Prosinecki is worth the admission money alone," he enthused about the man he saw in action for Pompey at Hillsborough last week.

He had been expected to be unavailable for Portsmouth as his country is playing South Korea in a World Cup warm-up and Ternent said: "To be honest I would prefer it if he was away on international duty but it is good for our fans to get the chance to see an world class player in action."

But the Clarets have their own in form player at the moment and winger Glen Little will be vying for top of the bill with the Croatian midfield star.

Little again earned rave reviews last weekend and his manager admitted: "He played very well, he is a talented player but this is a team game and it is the team that matters."

As well as expecting a tough time from the away team's star midfielder, he knows his defence will be up against a man bang in form up front, Peter Crouch.

"He is a very good player, a good centre forward," said Ternent who was looking to sign him in the summer before his £1.5million move to Fratton Park. "And he is going to be even better.

"It will be difficult to play against him because he is very tall and we will just have to cope with him as best as we can."

Graham Rix's side beat Sheffield Wednesday last week and Ternent admitted: "They are a well organised side that plays a 3-5-2 formation."

The Clarets had success when they went with a 4-4-2 line-up against the other Steel City side last weekend and he is likely to opt for the same again in the light of the 2-0 win.

But he said: "We have got players who can play in different ways depending on who is available and who we are playing against."

Skipper Steve Davis was ruled out of the match against the Blades on Sunday and Ternent said: "We will just have to wait and see on him. He got a tweak on the side of his knee last week that kept him out of the last game."

The Clarets recorded a second successive victory with a clean sheet at home, following up the 1-0 defeat of Crystal Palace.

With Watford the visitors on Tuesday night there are six points up for grabs that could really ignite the push for promotion, although Ternent feels the time to start taking real note of the table is still a couple of months off.

"We have got three back-to-back games and made a good start with three points last week," he said.

"We will try and get another three against Portsmouth.

"Our confidence has been good all the way down the line but they will be strong opponents.

"The whole division is going to be tight and it is nice to be in the top half at the moment. That said, it doesn't mean too much until you are up there in February. Then you can push for promotion."

With leaders Wolves not playing because of international call-ups the chance is there for the Clarets to close the gap at the top.

And if Little and co can outshine Prosinecki, victory will be within their grasp.
