JUST wait until I get my hands on Flitty!

Regular readers of this column will be aware of the banter that exists between the pair of us but he overstepped the mark with his latest stunt last week.

A TV crew from ITV's 'On The Ball' came down to Brockhall to film a piece ahead of our game at Southampton.

And I couldn't believe my eyes when the presenter started talking to him about me being compared to Gazza only for Flitty to chip in with 'we think he's more like Tyrone off Corrie.'

To make matters worse, they then cut to a clip of 'the Street' to compare us like for like.

But everyone knows there's only one genuine lookalike in our squad -- a certain Chesney Hawks impersonator!

Anyway, now I've set the record straight, let's get back to talking football and I really hope I can help the England Under 21s go double-Dutch over the next five days.

The first leg of our play-off against Holland in Utrecht tonight is a tough game by anyone's standards.

But David Platt has assembled a good squad with a great spirit and, after the run we've been on, we believe we are confident enough to go into the ring against anyone at the minute.

It only seems five minutes since we beat them 4-0 in David's first game in charge.

But that will count for nothing tonight and it's vital we keep the tie alive ahead of next Tuesday's second leg at Pride Park.

My granddad and some of my close friends and family have got a box for that one and it would be a massive anti-climax if we had nothing to play for on the night.

As for our game at Southampton last Saturday, that has to rank as probably our worst away performance of the season. Talk about daylight robbery!

But what a way to win the game with a great goal from Higgy in the very last minute.

You can go to places and play well but end up having nothing to show for it as we found to our cost at Derby on the opening day.

So sometimes it's nice to go somewhere and not play well but still come away with the three points.

The Saints may be down near the bottom but they made it hard work for us.

I found it difficult to get into the game because the midfield kept getting missed out due to a series of long balls.

But I thought my old mate James Beattie had a great game for them and I doubt there's many better than him in the Premiership in the air.

Talking of Beats, it was great to see him again after we first became friends while playing in the same youth team at Rovers together.

And after the game, I stayed at his house in Southampton after he invited me and a few mutual pals around for a bit of gathering.

My old Rovers mates Gary Croft and Andy McEvoy both turned up, as did Marlon Broomes, who is currently on loan with Grimsby.

I hadn't seen Crofty for a while, so it was great to catch up with him and I was pulling his leg about us being above Ipswich in the table.

I just hope I can still say the same to him and Beats later in the season if we decide to have similar reunion.
