THIS year's annual Remembrance Day parade will be a more poignant occasion as the borough's residents pay their respects to those who lost their lives in past and present wars.

Sunday's (Nov 11) church and outdoor services will take place as British and allied troops battle against terrorism in Afghanistan, but the date will be of great significance: the two-minute silence will take place on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month.

Residents young and old are being encouraged to support their local parades and services and remember those who fought and died for peace and freedom throughout the last century.
