A SPECIAL late night Christmas shopping evening has been planned for Bacup.
Many shops in the town will stay open until 9pm on December 12 when there will also be entertainment and refreshments.
The event has been organised by the Bacup Consortium. Member Dale Connearn said: "We have visited the shops and many of them have agreed to join in the fun and to stay open until 9pm.
"There will be various stalls, kiddies' rides, a steam engine and members of the Bacup Youth Theatre group singing around a Christmas tree."
The Fire and Rescue Service will be there with mascot Welliphant and it is hoped that Father Christmas will also find time from his busy schedule to make an appearance.
Mulled wine and hot food will be available. Anyone wanting to take part or help in the event can contact Dale on 01706 876960.
