WIGAN and Leigh Hospice managed to raise £23,000 through doorstep collections.
During August and September, a record number of people delivered and collected envelopes, bringing in an impressive total which bettered last year's amount by £2,000.
Hospice appeals officer Brian Halliwell said: "The greatest credit must go to all those generous people who filled he envelopes and once again showed how much the Hospice means to their community. To all of them, our most grateful and heartfelt thanks."
