A REQUEST to change the classification of a remote Astley Moss smallholding from mixed to light industrial use has aroused concerns over development in a Green Belt wildlife corridor.
Wigan development control committee members are to take a closer look at the area, following David Fish's application for his property, Fern Cottage, at the end of a potholed, dirt track, cul-de-sac designated Astley Road East.
Neighbours fear heavy vehicles will cause rapid deterioration of the only access route to their properties. They also wrote to the council objecting to early morning and weekend disturbance.
Development control committee member and Bedford Astley ward Councillor John Lea said: "Having studied video footage of the area, a decision has been made to defer Mr Fish's application pending further investigation."
