LEIGH'S new £3million extension to Spinning Gate opens tomorrow, bringing a boost for Christmas shoppers.

The new mall, which increases the centre by almost half again, will provide up to 12 additional stores.

And developers have kept their pledge to be ready in time for this year's Christmas shopping spree.

New to the centre are three famous high street names.

The Famous Army Stores are relocating to the centre after many years in Bradshawgate, to expand their range.

Peacocks offers a clothing for all the family and What Everyone Wants is new to Leigh.

It has nine departments, ranging from clothing to household goods, jewellery and perfume.

The Leigh opening coincides with the company's 30th birthday celebrations.

Argos has expanded into a superstore and Cookies Coffee House, formally Country Larder, has extended its area out into the mall to provide a continental outdoor experience.

Shopping centre manager Ray Clarke said: "This is just what Leigh town centre has needed for a long time and we were adamant that the new mall should be open in time for Christmas.

"I am looking forward to welcoming our existing customers and hopefully a whole generation of new shoppers."
