THE two best defences in NWCL Division Two meet tomorrow when Bacup make the trip to Blackpool Mechanics.

Brent Peters' side have conceded just 16 goals this season while Blackpool can go one better - and have let in just 15.

"It's the goals for column that doesn't look too impressive for me," said the Bacup boss. "And that's why I have boosted the forward line."

Bacup have scored just 15 goals - the second lowest in the league.

New boys, former Rochdale striker Julian Dowe and Shaun Cryer, both missed the Worthington Trophy win over Division One side Nantwich last week but will be ready for the trip to the Seaside.

The two sides have already met once this season - Blackpool were the 2-0 victors.

"Their coach Stuart Parker gets them very well organised. They are well-drilled on set pieces and that is how they caught us out last time - on two set plays.

"But we had a few injuries that day and I will be disappointed if we don't win. I want to average four points off every team, knowing we will pick up more or less here and there, so we need a win at Blackpool."
