CLITHEROE manager Lee Sculpher says his side have 'everything to lose' in their FA Vase second round clash against Nelson tomorrow.

The Blues reached the semi-final of the competition last season before being knocked out 8-4 on aggregate by eventual winners Taunton Town.

They meet NWCL Second Division side Nelson tomorrow and all the pressure will be on them with their rich history in the competition.

They reached the final before losing to Brigg Town in 1996 and lost at the quarter-final stages in 1998 as well.

"From my point of view it is the first time in charge for an FA Vase game and after last season's exploits any side we would have drawn would have been a big game," said Sculpher, who took the reins at the NWCL First Division side just a few games into this season.

"Nelson have nothing to lose. There will be a few nerves on our side, the stigma of last season adds a little bit of pressure because people at the club and the fans expect us to do as well as last season.

"Unfortunately, in cup football you can't afford to have an off day whereas in the league you can."

Sculpher himself is hoping to get over an ankle injury in time to play and keeper Kris Richens and midfielder Mark Stewart have been struggling with 'flu.

The Blues lost captain Barrie Hart to Accrington Stanley last week; Neil Spencer has taken the armband.
