PRESTON boss David Moyes is hoping Richard Cresswell can become more than a 'super sub' and seal a regular place in the North End first team.

The former Leicester striker came off the bench to fire home his fourth goal in three games in the 88th minute to share the spoils in a game struggling Barnsley deserved to win.

Darren Barnard had opened the scoring for them when he was left unmarked in the area following a cross from Chris Barker a minute before half time.

Preston equalised on 54 minutes when Mark Rankine got on the end of Jon Macken's cross but three minutes later the Tykes were back in front when David Mulligan's cross was headed home by the unmarked Alex Neil.

Neil then hit the post but enter super sub Cresswell who headed home Graham Alexander's cross.

"Richard is playing his part in the squad. In the last few years he has been in the wilderness with his clubs but we are hoping in time he will become a big player for us," said Moyes.

"This is a point gained as it was slightly undeserved but it keeps our unbeaten run going and that is the important thing."

Barnsley were expected to unveil Rochdale's Steve Parkin as their new boss this morning.
