BURGER giant McDonalds has promised an investigation into its Happy Meal toy collection after a schoolgirl told them: "I'm not very McHappy."

Catherine Taylor, 13, told burger bosses she had never managed to collect a full set of the small toys that come with meals.

She highlighted the problem when she tried to get the latest collection of Disney figures and was left two short.

Now bosses have promised to look into why her outlet did not get a full set of the collectors' items after Catherine said she was told by a manager that not every restaurant got the full allocation.

Catherine is to write to senior management pointing out the problem.

The problem came to light at the chain's branch in St James Street, Burnley, but bosses at the Blackburn town centre branch today said they had always been given the full collection of Happy Meal toys.

Catherine, of Holcombe Drive, Burnley, has been visiting the same McDonalds restaurant since she was four-years-old, sometimes visiting four times a week to collect the toys.

She said: "I am disappointed because I have never been able to complete the full set. I even go in to get them over the counter and my brother buys them for me, but I have never completed one single set.

"What is the point of collecting the toys if you never get a full set?"

Catherine's father Stuart, 36, is growing tired of incomplete collections. He regularly takes her into town for a Happy Meal and says that the attic at home and Catherine's bedroom are littered with the toys.

He said: "It's a shame for the kids that can't collect a full set, I'm sure she can't be the only one."

Diane Howard, a spokesman for McDonalds denied that it was a problem with every restaurant but said there might be a problem with the supply.

She said: "I am very sorry that the young lady has been unable to obtain all the toys she wanted. We look to offer all our customers a variety of toys.

"One group of toys can run from four to six weeks and all restaurants should receive a full allocation. We will be looking into the matter regarding the restaurant in St James Street, Burnley."

Managers at the Blackburn store in King William Street said that they always got the full range of toys for Happy Meals and that children were given plenty of opportunity to collect them all.

A spokesman for Lancashire Trading Standards said: "I am sure that McDonalds would want people to complete full collections.

"It may be a problem with this one particular outlet. We would advise Catherine to write to McDonalds pointing out what the manager said to her and I would be very very surprised if they did not supply her with the full set."

Catherine has taken that advice on board and will be putting pen to paper to write to McDonalds bosses, demanding that action be taken.
