HYNDBURN'S Christmas celebrations get under way later this month, with thousands expected to attend one of the biggest civic events of the year.
Pride of place will go to singer, comedian and Radio Lancashire personality Norman Prince, who will officially switch on the Christmas lights to add a festive glow to the centre of Accrington at 6.30pm on November 15.
Mr Prince will be joined by entertainers, choir singers and a brass band, who will usher in the festive spirit before the programme of street entertainment, which is held every Saturday and Sunday in the town centre, swings into gear on Saturday, November 17.
And at 6.40pm, courtesy of Hyndburn Council, there will also be a giant firework display above the Arndale centre.
