A BLACKBURN man aged 60 was jailed for three months by the town's magistrates for drink driving.
James Edward McHugh committed two offences in two months, the second while on bail for the first and subject to an interim disqualification.
And the magistrates said that his conduct had placed other road users in serious danger .
McHugh, of Bridge Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to drink driving in Audley Range in July when he gave a reading of 73 against the legal limit of 35. He also admitted drink driving in Montague Street in September, when he gave a reading of 50, and driving while disqualified.
As well as the three month jail sentence, he was disqualified for four years and ordered to take an extended re test before being allowed to drive again.
David Hartley, prosecuting, said the second offence had occurred at 3.30pm. A police officer in a patrol car saw McHugh drive down the centre of the road, passing stationary vehicles. Only the foresight of a bus driver avoided a collision.
