COLLEGE students and school pupils in Pendle have less than two weeks to submit their entries for Pendle Council's logo competition.

They have been asked to produce a logo for the Community Economic Development section with the winner of the competition receiving a book of vouchers to the value of £40, donated by Marsden Building Society.

The winner will also be asked to nominate a school or youth club to receive £450 worth of computer equipment, supplied by 3B Systems of Nelson.

Community Economic Development, or CED for short, is about developing skills that help people get jobs, cleaning up the environment to make people want to live and feel safe in the area and encouraging businesses to locate in the area.

The council is looking for a new logo incorporating the "CED" acronym, for use on their web-site, posters, display-boards and other marketing material.

Entry forms are available at the Nelson and Colne branches of Marsden Building Society, 3B Systems in Every Street, Nelson, or Tackling Unemployment at 28 Carr Road, Nelson, or by contacting Paul Crowther on 01282 661613.

The closing date for entries is Friday, January 11.
