TWO Baxenden women have been presented with long service medals for their work with the Women's Royal Voluntary Service.
Mabel Moorhouse and Alice Waterhouse, who are both volunteers for the Baxenden Autumn Club for the over 60s, have completed 15 years of work which qualified them for the charity's accolade.
The presentation came as the WRVS launched its Full Circle campaign to demonstrate how its service turns lives 'full circle' from social isolation to social inclusion.
Nicci Kennedy, volunteering manager, said: "we wanted the opportunity to say a big '"thank you' as WRVS volunteers in Accrington touch the lives of so many people every year through the provision of services, such as social clubs for older people.
"Our services offer social contact to older or housebound people and we could not do this without our volunteers."
Both Mabel and Alice have helped hundreds of people since joining the WRVS in the 1980s and have contributed over 1,500 hours of their time.
