A Christmas message of goodwill has sparked a special search by an East Lancashire brewery.

For staff at Thwaites' in Blackburn were extremely moved when they received a special Christmas card from a Mrs Betty Butcher.

Free Trade Sales Manager Brian Jenkins explained: "A note in the card from Mrs Butcher says her five-year-old grandson saw the Thwaites star shining on the roof of the brewery and was convinced that it was the star of Bethlehem. It was a lovely story and it touched everyone here."

In fact staff at Thwaites were so moved that they are now hoping to track down Mrs Butcher and her young grandson to invite them along to switch on the star for next year's celebrations.

Mr Jenkins said: "We thought it would be the perfect way of thanking them for their card."

The problem is that the only information Thwaites' have on Mrs Butcher is that she lives in Blackburn so they are appealing for help in learning more. Anyone who can help track down Mrs Butcher and her grandson can contact Donna McKenzie at the Lancashire Evening Telegraph on 01254 232036 or 232540.
