AN enforcement notice on an Accrington "school" has been lifted after a decision to reduce the number of pupils being taught there.
Planning permission was refused in September 2000 for two properties on Countess Street to be used for teaching up to 50 children after concerns were raised about conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles dropping off children.
An enforcement notice was issued in June when the applicant continued to use the buildings for this purpose and an appeal was lodged the following month.
The man behind the scheme, Javed Akhtar, indicated in the appeal that he would be willing to limit the number of children to 25 and restrict the opening hours to between 5pm and 7pm from Monday to Friday. The inspector considered these changes would reduce the impact of traffic in the area but that arrangements should be made to monitor the number of pupils at the facility and quashed the enforcement notice.
A full report will be presented to Hyndburn Borough Council's development services committee today.
