BURNLEY boss Stan Ternent was checking on his injury roster at training today as the Clarets prepare for their second trip to South Yorkshire in four days.

After drawing 1-1 with Barnsley on Saturday, the Clarets head to Millmoor tomorrow night seeking to take their points tally from three away trips to seven.

After their 2-1 win at Watford last Wednesday, which ended a three-match losing run, and the draw at Barnsley, the Clarets are looking in good shape for the Millmoor clash.

However, midfielders Tony Grant and Kevin Ball both picked up knocks at Oakwell.

Grant was brought off at half-time after straining a hamstring and Ball broke his nose on the half hour, though he played on and almost earned Burnley all three points with a late header that was saved by Tykes keeper Kevin Miller.

But boss Ternent was confident that his squad had the strength in depth needed to cover the situation.

"Ball broke his nose and Grant felt his hamstring tug a little, so I felt it was better to bring him off rather than risk him in the second half," explained Ternent.

"But things aren't too bad and if anything it is looking a little better as we get players fit again.

"The skipper Steve Davis is on his way back, Mitchell Thomas is getting closer and Nik Michopoulos is getting there too, so over the next couple of weeks we should be back to strength."

The trip to Millmoor may come a little too soon for that trio, but Ternent was just looking to the next task of taking three points from Ronnie Moore's side after the Clarets moved back into the play-off places last week.

"We move on to Rotherham now and again we go there trying to win," said Ternent.

"The league is very tight and a win can make a big difference, but nothing is won or lost yet and all we can do is try and push on.

"We went through a sticky patch and had we taken a point from each of our games at Watford, Barnsley and Rotherham you would have said at least we had stopped the rot.

"But we can come away from the three games with more than that and I do feel that we heading back towards our best form."
