AN East Lancashire man was injured in a collision between a Ford Iveco and a tractor.
Cumeragh Lane, Preston was closed for three hours following the accident at around 3.30pm yesterday.
Lesley Knowles, 51, of Burnley Road, Blackburn, suffered serious cuts to his face, while tractor driver David McMonegal, of Clifton, near Preston, broke his back and right arm. Both were taken to the Royal Preston Hospital.
Police said the tractor's driver shaft had shattered when it entered a dip in the road. The Iveco was travelling in the opposite direction towards Longridge when the collision occurred.
Mr McMonegal was thrown through the back window of the cabin and was found by the side of the road.
Mr Knowles managed to release himself from the wreckage. Investigations are continuing into the cause.
