A FAMILY man looking to buy his own home supplied cannabis resin in a bid to boost his income.

Over six months Carl Moore made a profit of around £1,600.

He was caught in a police raid at his rented home and jailed for a year by Preston Crown Court.

The 31-year-old of Arran Avenue, Blackburn, had pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis resin with intent to supply.

His partner Simone Moore, 23, had denied the charge, along with an alternative charge of simple possession. No evidence was offered against her and she was discharged.

David Pickup, prosecuting, said it was June last year when police executed a search warrant at the defendant's home where he lived with his partner and children.

Cannabis was found at various locations around the house.

Roger Baldwin, defending, said "Over about six months he supplied blocks of cannabis to friends. He would purchase four bars and make about £100 on each. This happened on three occasions. This was the third.

"He had made about £1,600 profit. The reason was to supplement his income."

Judge Peter Openshaw QC said it had been a case of commercial dealing on a

small scale to friends.
