IT is good to see that, at last, someone has launched an 'I Love Blackburn' campaign (LET, March 21).
However, it seems ironic that one of the sponsors is the Blackburn shopping precinct, owned by Standard Life, the same company that owns the town's major eyesore, known as Lord Square.
Yes, the same company which is now encouraging people to be proud of the town is that which persistently refuses to reinvest in the town centre, regardless of the fact that this area has been left to go to rack and ruin for many years.
If Standard Life wants to spend money on the town centre, it should be concentrated on rebuilding this central square, not thrown at a marketing campaign to replace the pride they themselves have robbed the town of.
