Leigh RMI 1 Boston Utd 2 by David Magilton: NICKY Spooner could find himself in goal for the full 90 minutes tonight if Mark Westhead does not recover from a back injury.

Full-back Spooner is on standby for the trip to Stevenage after deputising in the second-half against Boston when he did not have a shot to save.

Deputy keepers Dave Felgate and Craig Dootson are sidelined with injury.

Boston, chasing the Conference title with rivals Dagenham and Redbridge, had shut up shop after going into half-time with a two goal lead.

RMI did their best to make them pay but there was just one minute of normal time remaining when Ian Monk took the ball on half way and threaded his way to the edge of the box before unleashing a breathtaking shot into the top corner.

With five minutes of injury time gone and Leigh throwing everything at Boston an open goal fell to Marcus Hallows but somehow the striker hoofed the ball over the target.

The Pilgrims went ahead on three minutes courtesy of a disputed penalty.

Iain Swan made a clumsy challenge on Simon Weatherstone and the referee pointed to the spot. Daryl Clare saw his shot saved by Mark Westhead but the keeper could only push it back into his path and the striker smashed home.

RMI rallied and Michael Twiss and Monk always looked dangerous but two minutes from the break United underlined why they are championship material with a superb goal. Mark Angel's excellent cross was coolly laid off for Mark Brown to hammer it home.

The Railwaymen came storming back after the break and deserved a draw.

Manager Steve Waywell, who announced that defender Neil Durkin had agreed a new two year deal, said: "I have nothing but praise for the lads. The penalty decision was scandalous and if Boston continue to be as lucky as they were against us they will win the title."
