POLICE in Pendle have warned drug dealers in the borough that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated after two people were arrested in raids on houses in Nelson and Brierfield.

One person was released without charge and another bailed after heroin, amphetamines and drugs paraphernalia were seized from an address in Claremont Terrace, Brierfield.

A second address at Thursby Road, Nelson, was also raided but no-one arrested.

PC Andrew Baldwin, who co-ordinated the action, said: "The raids were part of an on-going Problem Oriented Policing operation and the result of public tip offs.

"We have a series of Community Beat Officers and they do forums within the community, meeting residents. Obviously people say they are not happy with other residents dealing drugs or indulging in anti-social behaviour.

"We get complaints regarding anti-social behaviour, whether it is juveniles drinking or smoking cannabis or something more serious like prostitution, and the Community Beat Officers and their manager, Sgt Karen Edwards, collect all the information, which we then act upon."
