CANCER Research UK's annual one-week charity shop raised £2,500 -- in just four days.
The store in Bridge Street, Darwen, closed last Tuesday out of respect for the Queen Mother.
Susan Whalley, chairman of the Darwen local committee of CRUK said: "The shop has exceeded all expectations.
"This is due to a large extent to Melbro Estates, who kindly allowed us to use the premises. In addition, the response to our request for goods to be donated was tremendous.
"With everything in place for opening, support from both helpers and customers has been overwhelming. The committee wish to express their gratitude for all their continued support in raising this fantastic sum."
