BLACKBURN boss Graeme Souness today admitted he is angry at the fact Rovers' Premiership future is still in doubt going into tomorrow's game against Everton.

Rovers can dispel any lingering relegation worries if they beat the Toffees at Goodison, although if Ipswich fail to beat Manchester United tonight then their place in the Premiership will already be assured.

Nevertheless, Souness is still irate that Rovers are having to look over their shoulders at such a late stage in the season.

And what's more, he feels the manner in which they threw away two points against Newcastle on Tuesday night is symptomatic of their season as whole.

"I'm angry that we are here and I'd like to think the players are angry that we are in this position as well," he said.

"I think we gifted two points away on Tuesday.

"We found ourselves 1-0 up then 2-1 up and still blew it so I'm angry that we lost a lead twice and missed out on three very important points.

"I've said all along that I think we should be further up the table and I think we've shot ourselves in the foot too many times this year.

"I think Tuesday was the perfect example of that and that's why we are where we are.

"I just hope the players are as angry as I am because we've allowed things like this to happen far too much this season."

Had Rovers held on for victory against the Magpies, they would have banished all thoughts of relegation once and for all.

Instead, however, they are now left to sweat on this evening's result at Portman Road which will then determine exactly what's required at Goodison tomorrow.

"We are preparing for the worst because, as we've said all along, our destiny is in our own hands," said Souness.

"So we are looking at having to win one more game.

"That's our attitude, and until tonight comes, nothing will change that."

Lucas Neill will miss the trip to Merseyside as he recovers from the concussion he suffered against Newcastle.

That could mean a recall for John Curtis, who recently had a transfer request rejected by the club.

Craig Hignett and Stig Bjornebye are also definite non-starters with Achilles and facila injuries respectively.

Rovers will choose from: Friedel, Curtis, Unsal, Berg, Short, Dunn, Tugay, Duff, Gillespie, Jansen, Cole, Yordi, Flitcroft, Johansson, Taylor, Hughes, Kelly.

Meanwhile, Souness has praised the job former Preston boss David Moyes has done at Goodison since he took over from Walter Smith.

"David Moyes has done a decent job in the short time he's been there and dug out some decent results but the time to judge him will be at the end of next season," added Souness.

"He initially got back-to-back wins which hauled them out of the danger-zone and this will be an interesting time for him because he's in a similar situation to the one I was in when I came here.

"He's got time to assess exactly what he's got and he'll look to make the changes he has to make.

"But having said that, there's so much money at stake for every place in the Premier League so winning games is still important."

Everton will again be without suspended Duncan Ferguson and injured Steve Simonsen, but Nick Chadwick has battled to overcome an ankle problem and has an outside chance of playing.

Paul Gerrard has also been nursing a groin strain all week, and with only youngster Andrew Pettinger fit, Moyes has little choice but to field the goalkeeper.
