A CHARITY shop manageress has spoken of her disgust after a young thug stole £100 from her till.

Joyce Cooper, of the Burnley and Pendle Hospice Shop, Dockray Street, Colne, labelled him 'a coward'.

Police said the thief entered the Colne charity shop at around 1.30pm posing as a customer.

He approached the till and ordered the staff to open it. He then grabbed £100 in £10 notes before dashing from the shop.

Mrs Cooper said: "I am shocked and appalled.

"It was more than a day's takings for us and what makes it even worse is that the hospice is in desperate need of funds but has to suffer because of this act.

"We have people shoplifting all the time but this is just heartless.

"The youngster who did this is a coward and probably doesn't know the meaning of a hard day's work.

"My staff have been left traumatised."
