A FORMER eyesore in Accrington has been transformed into a garden.
The garden, created on a piece of scrubland which has been derelict for many years, will be officially opened on May 10.
The Woodnook Residents' Association got together with the area's Forum for Action and environmental campaigners Groundwork East Lancashire to win permission from Lancashire County Council to create the garden on the corner of South Street and Nuttall Street.
Inspector Phil Cottam, head of Accrington police, and the new community warden for Woodnook, John Kennedy, will cut the ribbon to declare the garden open.
Pupils from Woodnook County Primary School, who have been helping to plant shrubs and bushes, will also help out at the ceremony.
Alf Green, chairman of the Woodnook Forum for Action, said: "Everybody is delighted with what has been achieved.
"The people of Woodnook are really glad to see what's been done."
