I WAS rather concerned on reading the inquest report (LET, May 23) on the death of two young men after a car crashed at the junction of Shear Bank Road and Preston New Road, Blackburn.
After buying the car for £40 at the local car auction and despite not having a driving licence, or experienced driver, one of the young men drove at an excessive and dangerous speed before the fatal collision.
In the report, it stated that questions were being asked why the police were following the vehicle and why they wanted to stop the car. It seems perfectly obvious that this was due to the way the car was being driven.
My greatest concern was that there was no reference to the vehicle being mechanically inspected. I find it hard to believe that a vehicle bought for such a small amount could be sound mechanically.
Would a senior police officer care to comment?
