RADCLIFFE was transformed into a blaze of colour as the town staged its 37th annual carnival.
And all the tried and tested ingredients which have made the traditional gala Radcliffe's premier community event since 1965 again featured prominently in a packed two-day programme.
Thousands of visitors turned back the clock to a previous era when they attended the popular vintage car and commercial rally.
Although the borough as a whole was celebrating the Queen's Golden Jubilee, Radcliffe Carnival organisers were determined to keep a strong identity for their annual event. Crowds flocked to the the Red Bank Playing Fields in Unsworth Street to watch a majorettes display and a parade of floats. Children also enjoyed all the fun of the fairground, a parade of carnival queens and a display by morris dancers.
And the carnival organisers, who were keeping their fingers crossed for some good weather, got their wish as there was blazing sunshine for both days of the festivities.
