Mount Carmel made up for the disappointment of losing last year's cup final after a thrilling extra time victory against Darwen Moorland.

The Accrington school lost to St Bede's of Ormskirk 12 months ago but this time around it was all smiles at Padiham FC's Arbories Ground.

Moorland took the lead early in the first half when John Leeming's cross was fumbled by the keeper but James Heywood grabbed a cheeky equaliser with a back heel just before half time.

The team's went in at the break on level terms but Mount Carmel took the lead for the first time with just 10 minutes left when striker Danny Mooring pounced to score.

But Darwen were on level terms within a minute when Drew Cardoo forced the ball home from close range to take the game in to extra time.

However, in extra time Mount Carmel took charge of the final and Ricky Whittaker put them 3-2 up with a stunning shot from outside the area before Heywood clinched victory when he raced on to a lose ball to go around the keeper to score.
