A FOOTBALL mad mum has had to take down a sign urging drivers to pip their horn for England -- because it drove her neighbours nuts.

Heather Barnes, 32, decorated the outside of her home with England flags and posters including pictures of captain David Beckham.

A huge banner on the side of her house said 'pip your horn for England to win the World Cup'. But neighbours complained about the constant tooting from passing motorists as early as 5am.

Now Heather has removed the 10ft banner in a bid to keep the peace with her neighbours in Burnley Road, Altham.

But the 20 England flags, individual posters of Becks and Michael Owen and a large poster of the full team will remain throughout England's World Cup campaign.

Heather, a Burnley fan, shares the house with her farmer husband Stuart, 25, and their two-year-old son Sam and says she may still add to the decorations.

Even young Sam has been made-over with a David Beckham style haircut, though Heather's horse Shannon had a lucky escape.

Heather said: "I thought about putting a second banner on the horse but decided against it as the cars might frighten her if they all blast their horns at her, too -- and that could be disastrous. Between about 6.30am and 6.30pm there were cars beeping at the house at least every two minutes but it did quieten down a bit during the night. The neighbours think I am mental."

One said: " We're not being killjoys but some of the lorries going into the neighbouring industrial estate were tooting at five in the morning.

"She's removed the notice and it's a lot quieter. We're all for backing England but the horn blowing was just a bit over the top."
