Clarets boss Stan Ternent is hoping that he will have a clearer idea of what funds he will have available for next season after the meeting of Football League chairmen in London today and tomorrow.

Burnley chairman Barry Kilby will be there with the club's chief executive and Ternent admitted: "It would be nice if something came out of it but we will just have to wait and see.

"Everyone knows that there is not a lot I can do until the television money is sorted out but there are a lot of other clubs in the same position. That is why there has not been much happening in the transfer market so far this summer."

Ternent has yet to add to his squad following the end of the season but that is the case for the majority of clubs in the Nationwide League.

As he prepared to go down to London, chief executive Watson agreed: "It would be great to get down there and have some positive news about the television money but I don't think it will happen.

"We are hoping that we will get an update on the latest legal situation and we are still expecting that the whole case will come to court in July. That is when some news should be forthcoming."

Today's meeting is the annual one for the Football League where a whole host of matters will be on the agenda.

"We will be looking at a number of new league regulations and rules and told about negotiations with the Professional Footballers' Association."

One of the main changes in the League's rules will relate to loan moves, allowing clubs to make more such deals in the future.

Watson said: "We have had the proposals but they are very long and complicated but that is something that will be clearer by the end of the weekend."

The agenda for the two days was a full one but unsurprisingly the chairmen had worked a long lunch break into their plans, starting at around 12.30pm!

Meanwhile the Clarets chairman Barry Kilby will be at the Queen's Hotel in Accrington on Monday night for the Annual General Meeting of the Accrington Clarets.

He will be available to answer questions and all Clarets fans are welcome. For more information call 01254 389413.
