ROYALTY isn't something I would choose to write about, but I just want to say what an absolutely fantastic Jubilee weekend I had. I was confined to the house through illness and I had the joy of watching the celebrations on the television.

Fantastic! The Jubilee celebrations made me think about how lucky I was, even in my poor state of health!

However, had I been well enough I wouldn't have been at home and, therefore, would have missed all the wonderful events that were on TV.

There was fantastic music from the wonderful Prom at the Palace and then, of course, the magical fireworks and computerised display of lights which turned Buckingham Palace into something out of a fairy story.

I hope the memory of the Jubilee holiday weekend will stay with me for many years to come for it was splendid.

The Notting Hill Carnival was just out of this world and all the children from The Chicken Shed Theatre reduced me to tears.

I thought they made a profound statement for better communication in their dramatisation of singing and signing their song.

I have never thought about being grateful for owning a television or for having the time to watch such a wonderful royal occasion.

Fifty years ago, I would have been housebound and miserable!
