THE Tory party may have polled most council votes in Bury North, but this signifies little in terms of a general election. After five years in opposition, they still have no policies.

There has been indecision over matching Gordon Brown's massive increase for the NHS; leakage of plans to privatise the NHS; opposition to the decentralising effect of regional assemblies; and confusion over the Government's adoption plans. Bring back the big hitter, Ken Clarke.

J. HOLDEN,

Ramsbottom.
