EDUCATION staff will offer advice and guidance on employment training for people from ethnic minorities at a Careers Mela tomorrow.
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph and Asian Image are co-hosting the event at Blackburn Rovers' Ewood Park ground.
Blackburn College will have a stand at the Mela to answer questions and offer guidance on modern apprenticeship schemes.
College training manager Gaby Houlihan said the schemes involve on the job training plus the chance to gain NVQs and HNCs and range from painting and decorating, to desktop publishing and graphic design.
Mrs Houlihan said: "We don't have an awful lot of people from ethnic minorities and we aim to change that."
Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is also involved.
Andy Kay, executive member for regeneration, said: "We welcome the opportunity to work in partnership with the Evening Telegraph and other agencies to help local people access quality employment.
"The Mela will give all residents the chance to get information about relevant employment opportunities."
The Mela will be held in the Premier Suite between 10.30am and 6pm.
