BLACKBURN'S very own radio station 'The Burn FM' is back on the airwaves and that means the return of the ever popular Friday Night Sport tonight.

The weekly sports programme proved a big hit during the Blackburn-based independent station's two trial runs prior to its application for a full broadcasting licence.

Presented by Rock FM and ITV Goal Rush commentator Keith Macklin, the major emphasis of the programme is on Blackburn Rovers and local football as Keith and Evening Telegraph reporter Andy Neild bring you all the latest news and interviews from Brockhall.

But there will also be plenty of emphasis on other local clubs and sports, too.

Eric Whalley looks at Accrington Stanley and other local non-league clubs, and Steve Tinniswood provides exclusive gossip from the amateur leagues.

While the emphasis is inevitably on Rovers and football, other sports in the Blackburn area don't go un-noticed.

During the previous series, studio guests have talked about rugby union, cricket, tennis, women's and schoolgirl's football, and even arm wrestling in Darwen which boasts two world champions from the Pickup family.

Local sport, again with headline material from Ewood, will be covered in the daily news bulletins, but the station's sporting flagship will be Friday Sport which has been extended to 45 minutes from half an hour due to its ratings success in previous outings.

So switch your dials to FM106 tonight for the first show in the new series which starts at 6.15pm, orlisten online by clicking on the BurnFM link from the frontpage of the site.

And if you want to email the team with a question which they will tackle live on air then send them to sport@theburnfm.com.
