TRAIN drivers union ASLEF held talks on Wednesday with First North Western in their ongoing dispute over pay.
With threatened strike action, which could disrupt weekend services in the coming months, First North Western are trying to resolve differences with union chiefs.
Services from Preston will be affected with the first strike due to take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 28 and 29 -- the weekend of the Labour Party conference in Blackpool. The 48-hour action looks set to continue every weekend until November 24.
Union chiefs also plan to ban 'rest-day working' for its members which could result in weekday services being cancelled due to driver shortages.
Vernon Baker, First North Western managing director, said the first weekend strike would disrupt travel to the Labour Party Conference.
