TONY Cunningham (Yours Truly, Sept 19) says that apathy among ex-workers threatens the Bibby and Baron reunion, organised to benefit Bury Hospice.
While no one is against raising money for charity, I do a lot for Cancer Research UK, some people have short memories and may have forgotten what went on at Bibby's from 1997 until it closed a few years later.
Senior management slipped out the "back door" with nice fat cheques, while the rest of us constantly hear stories about the broken marriages, poor health and ruined career prospects of a hard-up workforce facing a bleak future.
What went on there is finally sinking in and maybe that explains the poor response to ticket sales. Charity is all well and good but sometimes charity begins at home. It's time to move on, Tony, and put Bibby's "to rest", just like they did with their employees.
