COLNE boss John Lister refused to be downcast after his side slipped to their third defeat in a row against high fliers Stone Dominoes.
"That's probably the best we've played in the last few weeks," he said. "Stone aren't third in the league by accidentt and this was an encouraging performance."
Lister drafted in new signings Josh Baker and Bernard Manley but it was fellow new boy Sam Heyes who took top billing.
The ex-Accrington Stanley defender connected with a left wing cross to fire Colne into the lead shortly after the break. But Cartwright's deflected free kick put the visitors back on level terms five minutes later.
And things soon got worse for Lister's men as Walker stole in at the near post to head them into lead on 56 minutes.
Walker's second of the game midway through the second half sealed Colne's fate and sent them spiralling down to 11th place in NWCL Division Two.
