STAN Ternent is facing up to losing two members of his strike force for the Clarets next home game.

Young Greek striker Dimitri Papadopoulos has been called up for international duty again and is certainly away for the visit of Walsall.

His fellow striker Gareth Taylor is also hoping to be called up by his country but, even if he is not in the Wales squad, he will be missing against the Saddlers having collected five yellow cards already this season.

His booking by referee Scott Mathieson against the Dons means he will serve his automatic one match ban on October 12. The one bright spot for the striker if he is away on international duty is that his ban would still be deemed to have been served.

An FA spokesman explained this morning: "There is nothing in the rules to say the ban does not count if a player is unavailable for selection be it through injury or international call-up.

"When you pick up five bookings you are banned for one game, that game to be the one that is two weeks after the fifth card. If that was Saturday then he will miss the game either on or after October 12."

Papadopoulos is back in the Greece Under-21 squad that will take on Ukraine on October 11 and then Armenia four days later, ruling him out of the home game against Walsall.

Ternent said: "He will be going away next Monday but at least he will only miss one game."

Papadopoulos was again a lively substitute at the weekend having lost his place in the starting line-up against Wimbledon to Robbie Blake and his continued absences remain a frustration for Ternent although he is happy for his player to have international recognition.
