WHEN I read your article (LET, September 11), I thought you had started a new comedy section on page three, I realised in fact it was meant to be a serious statement from our councillors on their future plans for Blackburn.

The phrase 'meaningless gobbledegook' came to mind.

May I suggest that they leave the experts of the trade and business community to decide on the potential viability and location of shops, etc. and concentrate on providing the services they were originally intended to look after.

In case they have forgotten, I will list a few of them: provision of regular weekly refuse collection service, proper cleansing of the streets, open spaces and parks for children's play, public health, the provision of public toilets and affordable, decent housing.

At present the council seem obsessed with traders and not the needs or wants of the 99 per cent of people who pay their wages.
