A POPULAR Burnley magician has returned from a magical world event in Las Vegas ready to conjure up some work in his home town.

Matt Wright has given up his bar manager role at his family's pub the Reedley Hallows, Burnley, to take up work as a full-time magician.

Matt has recently returned from a ten-day trip after being picked as one of 15 people from across the world to join Jeff McBride's Masterclass in Las Vegas.

He returned last Monday from the intensive trip which he said as "spectacular".

The class was run by master magician Jeff and twice magician of the year Eugene Burger. Matt was part of a team of people from Sweden to Ireland.

Matt, 27, said: "It was amazing. I was performing one-on-one card tricks which all were impressed with."

After spending three months in the Spanish holiday resort of Lloret De Mar, Matt has has now got a number of new tricks up his sleeve and is currently in talks about going back to his regular show at Burnley's Paradise Island on Friday nights.

The former newspaper photographer said: "I want to concentrate on magic as a career.

"I have lots of bookings all over the country for parties and for private groups.

"But I am always on the lookout for more venues.

"I am in Birmingham and Chorley this weekend.

"I would would love to hear from anyone who wants me to perform for them."

Although David hates the idea of being likened to Paul Daniels, he is happy to be compared to controversial American magician David Blaine.

"David is the ultimate magician -- anything he does I want to be able to do better."
